About Nova Scotia Solar Advisors
An independent solar advisory built specifically for Nova Scotia homeowners. We connect you with vetted local installers, run transparent numbers on PACE financing, and help you avoid the typical pitfalls of going solar in the Atlantic provinces.

Why an Advisory, Not an Installer
Nova Scotia Solar Advisors was established in 2020 as an independent advisory specifically focused on helping NS homeowners navigate the solar decision. We are not an installer. We do not own panels, batteries, or trucks. What we do is independent system design, financial modelling, PACE financing guidance, and installer matching with vetted partners who have proven their work across the province.
This structure exists because solar in Nova Scotia is genuinely complicated. The provincial incentive landscape changes regularly (Efficiency NS SolarHomes closed in April 2025, the federal Greener Homes programs closed shortly after, NS Power rates rose 3.1% in May 2026 with another 4.1% approved for 2027). PACE programs vary municipality by municipality. Net metering economics depend on roof orientation, panel selection, and household usage patterns. Battery storage decisions hinge on your specific storm-outage history.
An installer's incentive is to sell you a system. Our incentive is to help you make the right call. Sometimes the right call is solar plus battery. Sometimes it is solar only. Sometimes it is wait 12 to 18 months for a roof replacement first. And sometimes, after looking at the numbers honestly, it is not solar at all. We will tell you which one your situation actually calls for.
Our Mission
Help every Nova Scotia homeowner get an honest, transparent assessment of whether solar makes sense for their specific property, and if so, get connected with installation partners who will deliver quality work at fair pricing.
How We Are Different
- Independent and unbranded. We are not affiliated with a particular panel manufacturer, battery brand, or installation company. We recommend based on your situation, not based on margin.
- NS-specific expertise. Halifax Solar City, SolarColchester, District of Chester, Town of Bridgewater, District of Lunenburg, every municipal PACE program in the province is one we have studied in detail and can guide you through.
- Transparent numbers. Our proposals show real installed costs, real production estimates, real monthly cash flow, and real break-even years. No marketing math, no rebates pretending to still exist, no claims about "free solar."
- Vetted installer partnerships. Every installer we recommend is licensed, insured, locally based, and has a documented track record. We do not work with high-pressure sales companies or out-of-province operators flying through.
- Google Guaranteed. We carry Google's verification badge as a local service business, which provides our clients with up to $2,000 of coverage from Google if anything goes wrong with our services.
What an Engagement Looks Like
You send us a recent NS Power bill and basic information about your home. We pull satellite data on your roof, model your specific solar production using NRCan datasets, factor in your municipality's current PACE terms, and build a transparent proposal showing what you would pay before solar, what you would pay during the financing period, what you would pay after the system is paid off, and your estimated 25-year net cash position.
If the numbers work and you want to proceed, we connect you with one of our installer partners for the site assessment and quote. The installer handles the contract, install, and warranty. We stay involved through the process as your independent advocate, making sure the engineering matches the proposal and the financing closes correctly.
If the numbers do not work, we will tell you that and explain why. Sometimes a smaller system makes more sense than what you initially had in mind. Sometimes a year of waiting (for a roof replacement, for PACE program changes, for further NS Power rate increases that improve the math) is the right call. We say so when it is.
